  Stripping panel to Bare metal

By Satpal Gore

As with anything the first step to good quality workmanship is to access the panel being worked on to see if there is any sign of previouse work. you can get a good idea by viewing the panel from an angle to judge for any previous repair or paintwork with out using any gadgets.

It is always advisable to remove all trims from the panel and the panel itself of the vehicle.

Fix the panel onto panel stand and very slightly score the surface with coarse abrasive

( do not gorge with a sharp object as so many untrained personnal do )

Cover the floor with some cardboard under the panel -so it is easy to dispose of the mess afterwords without creating mess on the floor.

Make sure the room is warm And well ventilated, put on pair of rubber gloves and face mask before you apply paint stripper onto the panel .Apply liberallyand let it soak about twenty - thirty minutes. ( it is advisable to always use good quality paint stripper

intended for the motor trade ) After 20 - 30 minutes the paint should be melting and lifting - depending on the amount of previous repairs- take a metal or plastic scrapper and remove the layer of paint of the panel. repeat the first process if need be - but if you do it right it should all come of in first or second attempt. Immediately wash the panel with some hot water followed by Thinners to remove all the paint stripper acid, blow dry the panel with air and clean with degreaser.

Sand and remove any left over paint with sanding disc 120 finishing off with 180 disc, again blow dry the panel and degrease it.

At this stage the panel should be moved into the spray booth and degreased .The spray booth should be set at 20 degrees and the panel allowed to stand for min muim 10 minutes to allow for the panel to get to room temperture, ( the reason for this is to realise any miosture of the bare metal.) while the panel is warming mix the apprioperate amount of wash filler - again making sure you wear protective clothing ,gloves and face mask. -strain & pour e spraygun .- little secret from old school , before you apply wash filler to the panel -degrease it once again but this time with weak acid solution, blow dry it and apply 1 good coat of wash filler and bake 25 min.

After baking any dents can be repaired and recoated with 2-3 coat of hi-build primer and again bake it as paint manufacture instructions

What is the BMW Bluetooth Retrofit

by Wayne Hemrick

If you drive a BMW 3 or 5 series or X5 built between 2002 and 2006, there are upgrades available which will bring your car’s sound system up to date. A popular choice for todays audiophile is a BMW Bluetooth retrofit for your audio system.

What Is Bluetooth?

You’ve probably heard of Bluetooth, but may not be familiar with what it is, how it works or why it makes to upgrade your older vehicle with a BMW Bluetooth retrofit.

Bluetooth technology (named after a rather despotic Scandinavian king of the late Viking Age) is really a type of electronic protocol – an industry standard that allows different electronic devices such as personal computers, printers, cel phones, and a wide range of digital devices to connect to each other and exchange information without the need for cumbersome cables and wires. It operates in a manner that is similar to a short-range radio frequency.

Uses and Capabilities

Bluetooth is highly effective for small devices that are in close proximity (up to 100 meters apart, depending on whether the device is Class I, II or III). Because of this, a BMW Bluetooth retrofit is ideal for the small, enclosed environment of an automobile interior.

If you’re like many busy people, you have a mobile phone with you and activated most of the time – including drive time. However, use of a cel phone while driving is unsafe, and actually illegal in many places. By installing a BMW Bluetooth retrofit in your classic vehicle, you’ll enjoy “hands-free” communication when receiving an important call while behind the wheel. You won’t even have to remove your cel phone from your pocket!

Taking It To The Next Level

A BMW Bluetooth retrofit allows you to integrate your cel phone into your vehicle quickly and easily. One of the most useful aspects of this is the ability to activate your cel phone and dial a number using voice commands. If your phone is equipped with this capability, you can simply speak the number you wish to dial, and your BMW Bluetooth retrofit allows it to dial it for you – automatically!

In addition, newer phones and navigation systems can display information right on your vehicle’s own digital displays (i.e., the instrument cluster).

No More Missed Calls

You probably enjoy playing your radio or CDs while commuting. You’ll be glad to know that the BMW Bluetooth retrofit automatically mutes the music or other audio programming when receiving or making a call.

Get Started Now

The BMW Bluetooth retrofit is designed for simple installation using the original manufacturer wiring. It really is as simple as “plug and play,” and afterwards, you’ll be able to control all of your cel phone’s functions using nothing more than the steering wheel controls, radio knobs and of course, your own voice. Visit Bavarian Soundwerks today and find out how easy and economical it is to update your vehicle with a BMW Bluetooth retrofit.

How to Use the BMW Bluetooth Module

by Wayne Hemrick

Many BMW owners who wind up having to use their cell phones while driving will benefit tremendously from installing a BMW Bluetooth module from Bavarian Soundwerks. The addition of a BMW Bluetooth module adds value, functionality, and above all, safety to your vehicle.

Has This Happened to You?

In 2005, a woman in Portland, Oregon was chatting on her cell phone while driving across one of that city’s many bridges. She was so distracted that she lost control of the vehicle, broke through the guardrail and plummeted 60 feet into the Willamette River, where she and her vehicle sank under 55 feet of water. Amazingly, she survived with only minor cuts and bruises.

A man in Indianapolis, Indiana was not so lucky. While talking on his cell phone, he missed a stop sign. He was broadsided by a dump truck and killed instantly. Ironically, he had been talking to a funeral director, making arrangements for his brother who had died similarly the day before, running a red light as he was using a cell phone while trying to drive.

These incidents illustrate the best reason to install a BMW Bluetooth module in your vehicle.

Safety – and Convenience

A BMW Bluetooth module uses technology that is an outgrowth of radio. Using low-band, unlicensed frequencies, Bluetooth protocols allow an astonishing array of digital devices from personal computers to cell phones and even game consoles to communicate with one another securely over short distances (under 100 meters). This makes it ideal for integrating your cell phone with your BMW vehicle’s sound system.

Installing a BMW Bluetooth module allows you to access your cell phone using the buttons on your steering wheel. Data (such as phone numbers) can be displayed on the instrument panel, and you can receive incoming calls over your OEM radio. Voice command allows you to “dial” the number you want to call by simply speaking the numbers – or, if you’ve programmed it, the name of the party you’re trying to reach.

Once your BMW Bluetooth module is installed and you have a compatible headset, you’ll enjoy the convenience and safety of “hands-off” operation. You won’t have to take your eyes off the road nor remove your hands from the steering wheel.

Even More Features

What’s even better about Bavarian Soundwerk’s BMW Bluetooth module is that your cell phone will automatically interrupt any programming that may be playing on the radio – you won’t need to worry about missed calls.

The BMW Bluetooth module is easy to install and inexpensive to own. It will add tremendous value and functionality to your vehicle while allowing you to use your cell phone in the car in greater safety. See for yourself by getting your BMW Bluetooth module today.
